The controversy of Zion

Isaiah 33:5 "The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness"

He hath filled Zion with judgment = God's elect/chosen people are bringing the truth by proclaiming "Salvation is of the Lord"

Isaiah 34:8 "For the day of the LORD'S vengeance, the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion"

Controversy = 1) strife, controversy, dispute a) strife, quarrel b) dispute, controversy, case at law.

What is Zion? I was accused of bringing a lie when I declared that Zion is God's chosen people.

Matthew 24:32-33 "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when his branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves, ye know the summer is nigh.33 so likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near at the doors"

Know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand?  The Lord Jesus Christ is the Shepherd and His sheep hear His voice.

Isaiah 51:15-16 "15 But I the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts his name.16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou my people"

Isaiah 40:9 "O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

Isaiah 46:13 "I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory"

Isaiah 51:3 "For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody"

Isaiah 52:1 "Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean"

What are these beautiful garments?

Isaiah 61:10 "I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth with her jewels"

Isaiah 52:7-8 "7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!8 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion"

Isaiah 61:1-3 "1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to bound;2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he be glorified"

Psalm 69:35 "For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they dwell there, and have it in possession"

Isaiah 62:11 "Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward with him, and his work before him.12  And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken"

Psalm 99:1-3 "1The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth the cherubims; let the earth be moved.2 The LORD great in Zion; and he high above all the people.3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; it holy"

Are you part of Zion?  I am part of Zion by God's infinite grace!

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain. Let all the inhabitans of the land tremble: For the day of the Lord cometh, for is nigh at hand!

                         ZION: A STRONG CITY

What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the Lord hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it .

Psalm 9:11 "Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings"

Psalm 48:1-2 "1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

Isaiah 52:1 "Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean"

Zion = Spiritual Jew (circumcision of the heart)

Romans 2:28-29 "28  For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God"

1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin"

Revelation 1:5 "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood"

Revelation 7:13-14 "13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb"

Isaiah 52:7 "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Psalm 31:21 "Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city"

Isaiah 26:1 "In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks"

Isaiah 28:16 "Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste"

Psalm 118:22-23 "22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

Acts 4:11-12 "This Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved"

1 Peter 2: 1-8 "Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed"

Ephesians 2:19-22 "19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner;21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Romans 9:30-33 " What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; as it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed"

1 Peter 2:9-10 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy"

Psalm 9:1-2 "I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High"

Psalm 65:1 "Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed"
