Genesis
25:21-38 "21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she [was] barren: and the LORD was intreated of him,
and Rebekah his wife conceived.22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If [it be] so, why [am] I
thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations in thy womb, and two manner of people
shall be separated from thy bowels; and [the one] people shall be stronger than [the other] people; and the elder shall serve
the younger.24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, [there were] twins in her womb.25 And the first came
out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.26 And after that came his brother out, and his hand
took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac [was] threescore years old when she bare them.27 And the
boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob [was] a plain man, dwelling in tents.28 And Isaac
loved Esau, because he did eat of [his] venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the
field, and he [was] faint:30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red [pottage]; for I [am] faint:
therefore was his name called Edom.31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.32 And Esau said, Behold, I [am] at
the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto
him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink,
and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised [his] birthright"
Proverbs 16:1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from
the LORD.
To know more about Jacob
read Genesis chapter 27 and 28. Genesis 28:10-17 "10 And Jacob went out from
Beersheba, and went toward Haran.11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was
set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put [them for] his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.12 And he
dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending
and descending on it.13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I [am] the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the
God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of
the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and
in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.15 And, behold, I [am] with thee, and will keep thee in all [places]
whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done [that] which I
have spoken to thee of.16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew [it]
not.17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful [is] this place! this [is] none other but the house of God, and this [is]
the gate of heaven"
Listen
to verse 15 " behold, I [am] with thee, and will keep thee in all whither thou goest" This is God Almighty speaking
to Jacob, a sinner. Most religious people would condemn Jacob and believe he is not a child of God; some teach that the way
Jacob dealt with his father Isaac was not God's will; but what it is written in the word of God is His will.
Psalm 37:23-24 "23 The steps of a man are ordered
by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth his
hand"
Isaiah 55:8-9
"8 For my thoughts, not your thoughts, neither your ways my ways, saith the LORD.9 For [as] the heavens are higher than
the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts"
Isaiah 45:4-7 "4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called
thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.5 I [am] the LORD, and none else, no God beside me:
I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:6 That they know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that none beside
me. I [am] the LORD, and none else.7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all
these"
Jacob's
wives
Read Genesis 29:15 to genesis
30:26. Jacob had two wives and two concubines. Was this lawful? It is God's plan!
What I see is that Jacob is a chief of sinners. A commandment
is given unto man very early after creation and is found in Genesis 2:21-25 "21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep
to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;22 And the rib, which
the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.23 And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my
bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.24 Therefore shall a man leave his
father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.25 And they were both naked, the man and
his wife, and were not ashamed" Listen to verse 24 "Therefore shall a
man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be
one flesh"
Matthew 19:3-5 "3 The Pharisees also came unto him,
tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?4 And he answered and said
unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female,5 And said, For this cause
shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?"
This is a commandment given to man: "to cleave unto his
wife" one wife, not two or more.
Cleave = to cling, stick, stay close, cleave, keep close, stick to, stick
with, follow closely, join to, overtake, catch.
What I see is that I am just like Jacob (I do not have four women) I saw myself in Jacob when God called
him a worm. Isaiah 41:14 "Fear not, thou worm Jacob, [and] ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy
redeemer, the Holy One of Israel"
What is inside a worm? Yes, it is full of dung. God's chosen people are worms, we do not have anything good before the Almighty
God. It is just when I see myself in Christ that I am a beloved before my Heavenly Father.
But, when was it that God
loved His people in Christ? Romans 9:10-13 "10 And not only; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, by our
father Isaac;11 (For being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election
stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.13 As it is written,
Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated"
He loved me before I was born, I was found in Christ in eternity past! He chose me to Salvation from
before the foundation of the world. False teachers have tried to teach me that I have to do physical works to have or show
Salvation, that is spiritual oppression.
Philippians 3:8-9 "8 Yea doubtless, and I count all
things loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things,
and do count them dung, that I win Christ,9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the
law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith"
I hope you do not condemn Jacob, but see yourself in him as a chief of sinners
in need of God's grace and mercy.
Mark 2:14-17 "14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi
of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.15 And it came to
pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples:
for there were many, and they followed him.16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they
said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard [it], he saith
unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance"
1 Timothy 1:15 "This a faithful saying, and
worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom
I am chief"
Isaiah 48:20-22 "20 Go ye forth of Babylon,
flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD
hath redeemed his servant Jacob.21 And they thirsted not; he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out
of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.22 no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked"
Jeremiah 31:7 "For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief
of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel"
Psalm 47:4 "He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency
of Jacob whom he loved. Selah"
