breaking bread

Remember John 6:47-48 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life."

Matthew 26:26-28 "26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake, and gave to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."

Mark 14:22-24 "22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake [it], and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them: and they all drank of it.24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many."

Luke 22:14-20 "14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide among yourselves:18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup [is] the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you."

From these verses false teachers say that the Lord Jesus Christ is commanding to break physical bread (crackers or whatever they use) but that is a deceit of their heart, because they are blind and deaf. The Lord Jesus Christ came to do His Father's will.

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Psalm 40:6-10 "6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book written of me,8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law within my heart.9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation."

I hope you enjoy Hebrews 10:5-10 "5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:6 In burnt offerings for sin thou hast had no pleasure.7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure; which are offered by the law;9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he establish the second.10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once."

When the Lord Jesus Christ broke the bread and gave it to His disciples is that He is declaring the truth and faithfulness and Salvation of God; His work on the cross for His people, who He is, and many more spiritual truths.

Isaiah 58:1-12 "1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.3 Wherefore have we fasted, and thou seest not?  have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as day, to make your voice to be heard on high.5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul?  to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? 6 Not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? 7 Not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? 8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;10 And thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness as the noonday:11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.12 And of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in"

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

verse 7 "Not to deal thy bread to the hungry?"

The Lord Jesus Christ is the bread; He came to declare the truth to His people. There is nothing physical in these verses, remember Acts 8: the eunuch is reading the book of Isaiah, Phillip is sent to preach Jesus (to break bread) the next thing the eunuch see is water (Jesus) what I am doing here is breaking bread by God's grace and for His Glory.

I Corinthians 11:23-30 "23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the night in which he was betrayed took bread:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.25 After the same manner also the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink, in remembrance of me.26 And when he had given thanks, he brake, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink [this] cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of bread, and drink of cup.29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.30 For this cause many weak and sickly among you, and many sleep."

Verse 23:  What have I recieved of the Lord just like Paul?

Bread (Jesus = Salvation) that is what I have been delivering since The Lord Jesus Christ came into this house.

Verses 24 and 25 to eat and to drink is to believe (trust) in His work on the cross for all my sins.

"this do in remembrance of me" = break bread, bring the cup (cup of Salvation) what Christ has done on the cross for His people. To eat and drink unworthily is to believe Salvation is Christ plus what I do. This is the teaching of freewill of man doctrine: Salvation is Christ plus physical water baptism, give money (tithes) and eat the cracker (whatever) and drink the grape juice (whatever) and if I do these things I am a child of God; that is heresy.

Psalm 23:5 "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over"

My cup runneth over with water out of the wells of Salvation.

Psalm 116:13 "I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD"

Read Luke 24:13-32 best example of breaking bread. When the Lord Jesus Christ broke the bread (declared) and gave it to the men, their eyes were opened. It has happened to me for His Glory. I have broken the bread(declared His Salvation) and eyes have been opened (see the truth).

Luke 24:30-32 "30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed, and brake, and gave to them.31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
