Two kinds of peace: 1) The Peace of Christ and 2) The peace of the World.
1) The peace of Christ:
Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall
keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus"
Romans 15:13 " Now the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye abound in hope, through the power of the
Holy Ghost"
Psalm 29:11 "The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless
his people with peace"
Romans 5:1-2 "1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice
in hope of the glory of God"
Romans 3:24-26 "24 Being justified freely by his grace through
the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:25 Whom God hath set forth a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his
righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;26 To declare, at this time his righteousness:
that he be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus"
Propitiation = relating
to an appeasing or expiating, having placating or expiating force, expiatory; a means of appeasing or expiating, a propitiation.
a) used of the cover of the ark of the covenant in the Holy of Holies, which was sprinkled with the blood
of the expiatory victim on the annual day of atonement (this rite signifying that the life of the people, the loss of which
they had merited by their sins, was offered to God in the blood as the life of the victim, and that God by this ceremony was
appeased and their sins expiated); hence the lid of expiation, the propitiatory b) an expiatory sacrifice
c) a expiatory victim.
Psalm 4:8 "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for
thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety"
Psalm 119:165 "Great peace
have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them"
Thy law = The Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans
8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath
made me free from the law of sin and death"
Romans 10:4 "For
Christ, the end of the law for righteousness to every one that
believeth"
Galatians 2:16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus
Christ, that we be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by
the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh
be justified"
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the
world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid"
Isaiah
26:12 LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us:
for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.
Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God
reigneth!
Zion
= God's elect
Thy God reigneth = God is in control/rules over all.
Psalm
103:19 The LORD hath prepared his throne
in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
2) The peace of the World:
1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 "2 For yourselves
know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then
sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape"
Psalm
52:1-7 "1 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God continually.2 Thy tongue deviseth
mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.3 Thou lovest evil more than good; lying rather than to speak righteousness.
Selah.4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O deceitful tongue.5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee
away, and pluck thee out of dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.6 The righteous also shall
see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:7 Lo, the man made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches,
strengthened himself in his wickedness"
Proverbs 10:15 "The rich man's wealth his strong
city: the destruction of the poor their poverty"
Are you trusting in the abundance of riches?
Is it in riches ($) where you find peace?
Which one do you have?
Isaiah
32:17 And the work of righteousness
shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Righteousness = Jesus Christ
PRAISE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!
